Etymology

Blend of sheep and people ; first used in Google's Usenet archive on 26 September 1991 in an article on soc.culture.african.american...though some attribute it to earlier writings by Anton LaVey, founder of the Church of Satan, who was evidently somewhat prone to using the term.
